Company Overview:

Superior Forge and Steel’s primary product is forged hardened steel rolls for hot and cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Work and backup rolls can be furnished up to 1625 mm in diameter with finish weights in excess of 70,000 kilograms. Other products and services available include commercial ingots, specialty forging, heat treatment, and machining. 

Quality assurance, from raw material purchases to final machining, is maintained by rigid SPC and SQC programs coupled with formal training of all personnel. Each step of the manufacturing process is verified to document Superior’s ability to meet our internal standards which are more stringent than typical industry standards. 


Job Purpose:  To provide electrical and electronic maintenance support for plant facilities and equipment.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Observing company policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Observing safety policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Timely, accurate and neat documentation of daily production.
  • Housekeeping in work areas and company living areas.
  • Planning new or modified electrical installations, i.e. preparing sketches showing location of wiring and equipment and following schematics and blueprints.
  • Installing electrical equipment and systems, i.e. installing electrical conduit, connecting to fixtures and power equipment, installing control and distribution apparatus, connecting cables to equipment and installing grounding leads, testing of circuit continuity and observing to detect hazards, adjustments, relocation or replacement.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing of both AC and DC electrical equipment and systems.
  • Maintaining and installing electronic controls, i.e. CNC and solid state controls, troubleshooting electronic and electrical equipment to board or component level.
  • Work in an industrial environment on heavy equipment (e.g., 3000T Forge Press, 72” 100T Lathe).
  • Have a basic understanding of electricity and electrical components.
  • Read and work from schematics, blueprints, diagrams and sketches.
  • Assist with the retrofit of heavy industrial equipment with new electronics.

High School Diploma or GED 
Technical Degree or completion of an Apprenticeship Program in electrical/electronic maintenance with 5 to10 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial setting is preferred but not required.  In the absence of technical or apprenticeship education a minimum of 5 years experience is required. 
Has satisfied the requirements of the SFS Electrical Maintenance Program, through direct participation or comparative education and experience
