Company Overview:

Superior Forge and Steel’s primary product is forged hardened steel rolls for hot and cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Work and backup rolls can be furnished up to 1625 mm in diameter with finish weights in excess of 70,000 kilograms. Other products and services available include commercial ingots, specialty forging, heat treatment, and machining. 

Quality assurance, from raw material purchases to final machining, is maintained by rigid SPC and SQC programs coupled with formal training of all personnel. Each step of the manufacturing process is verified to document Superior’s ability to meet our internal standards which are more stringent than typical industry standards. 


Hardening Department Laborer                         

Key responsibilities:

  1. Assist First Helper in changing furnace setups, gaslines, thermocouples, Ircons, bore units and inserts as indicated on “Setup Cards”; perform same to quench rigging.
  2. Change quench sprays and packups
  3. Get rolls for First Helper to charge
  4. Unload tempering boxes
  5. Center rolls in furnaces and quench
  6. Vent rolls in Annealing Furnace
  7. Setup and clean rolls for initial ultrasonic test
  8. Setup and wipe down hot charges
  9. Clean screens and filters as scheduled
  10. Load and unload Annealing Furnace
  11. Unload and load trucks, assist Heater with inspections as required.
  12. Move rolls as directed by Hardening Foreman or Machine Shop Foreman
  13. Clean shop as directed by Hardening Foreman or Machine Shop Foreman
  14. Perform other duties for which may be trained, capable and qualified as required.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Observing company policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  2. Timely, accurate and neat documentation of daily production.
  3. Housekeeping in department work areas and company living areas.
  4. Performing tasks as assigned and directed by supervisor.

Hourly Non-Exempt (Starting wage $14.00)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous machining experience or technical training in machining or machining related skills preferred, but not required.
  • Strong mathematical skills (fractions, decimals, conversions and measurement)
  • Proficient in the interpretation and utilization of blueprints and sketches
  • Accuracy
  • Attention to detail
  • Lift 60 – 80 lbs
