Company Overview:

Superior Forge and Steel’s primary product is forged hardened steel rolls for hot and cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Work and backup rolls can be furnished up to 1625 mm in diameter with finish weights in excess of 70,000 kilograms. Other products and services available include commercial ingots, specialty forging, heat treatment, and machining. 

Quality assurance, from raw material purchases to final machining, is maintained by rigid SPC and SQC programs coupled with formal training of all personnel. Each step of the manufacturing process is verified to document Superior’s ability to meet our internal standards which are more stringent than typical industry standards. 

Forge Annealing Helper

Job Purpose:    To assist with forge press operations, i.e. equipment setup and movement of ingots/forgings with overhead remote crane.  

Key responsibilities:

  • Review and verification of forging assignment.
  • Review and verification of ingots scheduled to strip.
  • Stripping ingots and loading for pre-forge furnace cycle.
  • Operating remove crane
  • Operating forge furnaces
  • Movement of ingots/forgings between furnace and forge press.
  • Start up and shut down of forge press and manipulators.
  • Making forging sticks
  • Hot cutting forgings
  • Assisting during forge press operation.
  • Reporting all deviations from production specifications.

Key accountabilities:

  • Observing company and safety policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Timely, accurate and neat documentation of daily production.
  • Housekeeping in department work areas and company living areas.
  • Timely reporting of equipment problems and issues.
  • Preventative maintenance on forge press, manipulators and forge furnaces.
  • Maintaining all equipment needed for forging operation.

Classification:  Hourly (Starting wage $16.00)

                        Benefits after 90 days

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED

                       Previous foundry experience preferred, but not required.

                       Basic math skills


                       Able to read a tape measure/ruler

                       Attention to detail

                       Ability to work at heights and in confined areas

                       Must be able to bend, lift and twist 60 to 80 lbs

                       Must be able to pass pre-employment tests

                                (Physical, drug test and background check)

                       Must be able to get dirty

                       Ability to work different shifts (possible overtime)
