Company Overview:

Superior Forge and Steel’s primary product is forged hardened steel rolls for hot and cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Work and backup rolls can be furnished up to 1625 mm in diameter with finish weights in excess of 70,000 kilograms. Other products and services available include commercial ingots, specialty forging, heat treatment, and machining. 

Quality assurance, from raw material purchases to final machining, is maintained by rigid SPC and SQC programs coupled with formal training of all personnel. Each step of the manufacturing process is verified to document Superior’s ability to meet our internal standards which are more stringent than typical industry standards. 

Laborer

Job Purpose:      To offer general and/or material labor skills in support of production, maintenance and                                                      administration needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist machine operators loading and unloading machine.
  • Check machine line-ups at the start of each shift and bring rolls to machines if needed.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Shovel turnings from machines and place in appropriate containers.
  • General house cleaning.
  • Fill out receiving reports and daily production sheets.
  • Wrap and box roll when a list is put out.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly scrap yard.
  • Load and unload annealing furnace and vent rolls as needed.
  • Learn different roll conditions and proper flow throughout the shop.
  • Learn the proper use of straps and cables.

Key accountabilities:

  • Observing company and safety policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Timely, accurate and neat documentation of daily production.
  • Housekeeping in department work areas and company living areas.
  • Performing tasks as assigned and directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:    High School Diploma or GED

                          Accuracy

                          Attention to detail

                          Ability to work at heights and in confined areas

                          Must be able to bend, lift and twist 60 to 80 lbs

                          Must be able to pass pre-employment tests

                                 (Physical, drug test and background check)
