Company Overview:

Superior Forge and Steel’s primary product is forged hardened steel rolls for hot and cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Work and backup rolls can be furnished up to 1625 mm in diameter with finish weights in excess of 70,000 kilograms. Other products and services available include commercial ingots, specialty forging, heat treatment, and machining. 

Quality assurance, from raw material purchases to final machining, is maintained by rigid SPC and SQC programs coupled with formal training of all personnel. Each step of the manufacturing process is verified to document Superior’s ability to meet our internal standards which are more stringent than typical industry standards. 

Bricklayer

Job Purpose:      To provide bricklaying and mechanical skills in support of production and maintenance needs. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing work area
  • Removing and/or repairing worn materials.
  • Demolition of refractory materials and associated parts.
  • Reporting all deviations from specifications and requirements.
  • Carpentry skills to build wood forms, must be able to use all forms of power tolls of the trade.  Need to supply basic tools for the position. (ex. Tape measure, square, claw hammer)
  • Bricklaying with refractory brick, castable material, fiber installation and ramming.
  • Operate mobile equipment, man lifts, forklifts, skid steer, etc.

Key accountabilities:

  • Observing company and safety policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Timely, accurate and neat documentation of daily production.
  • Housekeeping in department work areas and company living areas.
  • Timely reporting of equipment problems and issues.
  • Preventative maintenance on castable and mortar mixing equipment.
  • Maintaining all equipment needed for bricklaying operations.

 Classification:  Hourly (Starting wage $16.00)

 Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED

                          Previous masonry experience or construction experience preferred, but not required.

                          Strong mathematical skills (fractions, decimals, conversions and measurement)

                          Accuracy

                          Attention to detail

                          Ability to work at heights and in confined areas

                                (45 ft above floor on walk ways, scaffold, ladders..)     

                          Must be able to bend, lift and twist 60 to 80 lbs

                          Must be able to pass pre-employment tests

                                (Physical, drug test and background check)

                          Must meet OSHA medical test for respirator use

                          Must be able to get dirty

                          Ability to work different shifts (possible overtime)
